Spring Thing: A Dragon's Tale

description:
The Incipient Canton of Westland Mor calls all to our aid, from weapon bearer to bard to ordinary citizen, for high atop the Laurel Mountain dwells a fire_breathing, treasure_stealing dragon... or is he simply misunderstood?

If you dare, join the Incipient Canton and the Barony of St. Swithin's Bog as we attempt to determine if the dragon is friend or foe at our 8th Annual Spring Thing Event to be held at the Flax Scutchin' Grounds in Stahlstown, PA (no street address) on Saturday, June 10, 2006 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Autocrat is Caitilin ni Mhaolchonaire (a.k.a. Kathleen Giesey _ dragonflykiwi@verizon.net); Assistant Autocrat and Reservation Clerk is Kelly Deemer snowdragon1027@yahoo.com).

Wanted: brave fighters, fencers, archers and weapons throwers to help defend Incipient Canton against dreaded dragon; Bards for attempt at soothing and amusing said dragon... and the populous gathered... with songs humorous or serious (and preferably dragon-related); Artists & Scientists to compete in A&S Competition; Treasure Hunters for seeking cute little dragon's... err, big scary dragon's hidden treasure; and fun-loving citizens who wish to enjoy a day out with slight overcast of danger predicted. Wee ones for children's activities are also needed. Hopefully there will also be a silent auction.

Competitions
A&S Competition - object must have a dragon or part of a dragon (i.e. a tail, a claw, an eye, a head, etc.) within the piece and it can be anything - scroll, wood burning, leatherworking, etc.

Bardic Competition - preferably a serious or humorous song, poem, tale, joke containing a dragon or dragonslayer.

Feeding a dragon is no small feat, but feeding a bunch of hungry Scadians can be twice as dangerous. Our fearless Feastocrat, Fejes Elena (Sharyl Clapp sharyl@paintedarmies.com) will provide lunch and a feast. Please contact Elena with any special dietary needs you may have.

Cost for the event shall be as follows: $15 onboard, $9 off board, children 6 - 12 half price, and children 5 and under shall be free; with a family cap of $50. A $3 non-member surcharge, for those over 18 who cannot show a valid membership, will be collected at the door. For more information on any of the competitions, please contact the autocrat or visit the event's website at: www.stswithinsbog.org/canton/springthing.htm.
