Sutton Hoo Visitor Center to Present Far Fetched Treasures

EDP24: The Sutton Hoo Visitor Center, opened last March, will present "Far Fetched Treasures" though May 31, 2003. One of Britain's greatest archaeological sites now welcomes visitors. Sutton Hoo in East Anglia, the site of the famous Anglo Saxon ship burial, has a new visitor center and will present an exhibit, "Far Fetched Treasures," through May 31, 2003. The program will highlight exotic goods brought to the area through the trade routes and will feature African ivory, Mediterrean gold, and garnets from India.

Highlights include a gold shoulder clasp and a silver tray with the name Emperor Anastasius, both discovered during the excavations of the site in 1939.
