Byzantine Treasure Discovered in Alexandria

Egypt Online: Hungarian mission workers in western Alexandria have discovered gold pieces and
jewelry dating from the 4th century CE.
Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni has announced that a treasure trove of gold
coins and a bracelet were found in an excavation of the Temple of Isis, built
by Ptolemies in the 4th century CE. The pieces date to the reign of the
Byzantine Emperor Justinian. The pieces will be sent to the Graeco-Roman Museum
in Alexandria.
