Fool's Revel

description:
Come join the Barony of Winter's Gate as we celebrate the coming end of cabin fever and the silliness of Spring. We invite you to our Fool's Revel on Saturday, April 22 from 11:00am until 10:00pm.

Activities will include, but not be limited to:
A Tourney for the Champion of the College of St. Boniface. This is a heavy tourney and the list is not limited to Baronial members. However, we do ask that just as our Captain of our Militia, either the fighter or the consort be a member of the Barony. List will open at 12:00 noon with armor inspection to start at 12:30pm.

A Rapier Tourney for Baroness' Champion. As our Barony does not currently have any rapier fighters, the Baroness' Champion would have to be willing to help in teaching and promoting the rapier art in our Barony. This list is open to all who are willing to take on this challenge.

A "Foolish Garb" competition will be held during dinner with a "unfashion show". Basic rules are that the outfit must be medieval in appearance but materials and accessories are up to your imagination.

There is also a competition for a "Folly" in any mode. A folly is a silly accessory like a jester hat or wand or even a belled baldric or garter. These items should be period in materials (if possible) and design and documentation will get you extra points. And yes, there are lots of silly things in period. (Hint: try googling "medieval fools"). The last competition is for Period children's toys. This competition is for the creation of period toys to be donated to the Baronial children's toy chest. Once again, documentation yields extra points.

The Baronial Court Fool. As Lady Clover has been so gracious to be our Fool for this past year, it is time for her to retire this post and for us to find another. This competition is Bardic in nature. Entries can be jokes, songs, stories, poems, dances, etc. Be Creative!

There will also be several games as time allows, such as Build a Knight (explanations later) and dancing and bardic. There has also been a challenge laid down for a watermelon eating contest. Anyone wishing to enter the challenge should bring one watermelon and possibly a bib!

Dinner will be potluck and will start at 6pm. Please bring a dish to share that will feed 8.
