Medieval English Year Books Online

Boston University's School of Law has produced a searchable database for the English Year Books which are the law reports for the country from the 13th through 16th centuries.

According to the website, the Medieval English Legal History: An Index and Paraphrase of Printed Year Book Reports, 1268-1535 which was compiled by David J. Seipp, searches the Year Books which "are our principal source materials for the development of legal doctrines, concepts, and methods from 1290 to 1535, a period during which the common law developed into recognizable form. About 20,000 individual reports or 'pleas' have been printed, and others remain in manuscript. This database indexes all those year book reports printed between the years 1378 and 1535 and a large number from 1268 forward. Of these reports, more than 4,000 from 1399 forward have been fully indexed and paraphrased in this database."
