We will be focusing on some of the foundations of swordsmanship such as body mechanics, foot work, balance and awareness. We will also be looking at various aspects of defense/offence as used both in historical combat and today's SCA tournament/WMA competitions. The day will conclude with a BBQ. DIRECTIONS: Take your best route to 880 and head towards Hayward. Take the Jackson St/Hwy. 92 exit and head EAST (if you pass Hesperian Blvd. you have gone the wrong way). Make your FIRST RIGHT on Santa Clara. This becomes Harder Rd. Make a RIGHT on Jane Street. Follow Jane all the way to the very end. The park will be on the right hand side.
COST: We're asking each participant for $5.00 help defray event costs if you can.

NOTES: Sorensdale Park is a DRY site (no alcohol). Flush privies and a very kid friendly playground on site. Lots of benches, picnic tables and shade trees too! The BBQ shall take place at a residence just down the street.

1:30-3:00- Drills and Light Armor Focused Sparring
3:15-5:00 Armored Drills and Focused Sparring
5:30 BBQ Begins.
YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING: Your favorite beverage. Lunch. Comfortable fighting/work-out clothes, elbow/knee pads, groin protection, gloves, rattan or wood wasters, shield (if desired-some loaners available) athletic shoes or boots that supports the ankle. For the Light Armored/Armored portion of the day you will need solid elbow/knee covering (all three sides), padded hand protection or hilts, neck protection with cervical vertebrae covering, kidney/short rib protection, solid groin protection, head protection which should cover the face, top, rear and sides of the head. NOTE: Fencing mask, lacrosse/hockey helmets or internal padded metal helmets are acceptable). Think safety! We will be wielding weapons so protect yourself as best you can.
