Painted-Over Italian Fresco Restored

"The Separation of Night and Day," a rare Italian fresco by Guido Reni, has had the coat of paint removed that has hidden the work from view for 150 years.

The fresco, which dates to 1599, was covered with oil paint when it was removed from Italy in the 19th century. The restored painting will be displayed at Kingston Lacy, near Wimborne, England in the spring.
