Crystal Crags to Host Artemisian Crown Tourney

Crystal Crags is proud to be hosting Artemisia's thirteenth Crown Tournament for Their Majesties Da'houd and Shajara! The event is April 11-13, 2003. SITE

The site is the Stillwater Grange, 1810 W. Reserve in Kalispell, Montana (USA) and sits on at least 150 acres of flat ranchland. It is a WET site, with plenty of parking, handicap accessible, pets are welcome outside, Rvs and tow-behinds are welcome (be aware there are no hook-ups). Hearty souls may tent and camp - and if you have a period pavilion, we invite you to set it up to add ambiance. There will be limited on-site indoor crash-space. We plan for a central bonfire Friday and Saturday evenings, and above-ground fires are ok. The Hall will close on Sunday when all of our guests have departed, (as late as 9pm). We will have a staff of gentles to help you unload armor and belongings when you arrive, and we offer the option of storing your armor INSIDE the Hall in a room until Saturday morning so that it need not be ice-cold. Bring your feast gear and banners, and you may want to bring personal chairs (there are plenty of fold-ups on site).

SCHEDULE

Site opens NOON Friday, and because of the nature of the event, all will be at the Pleasure of the Crown. If there are enough Youth in attendance, there will be a Snow Sculpture Competition on Saturday. There will be Merchants, and the Hall is ideal for dancing in the evening hours and music will always be heard; there is a room suitable for any type of class or get-together, and all are encouraged to pursue their interests. We plan to have a fine wares auction, and dancing if the populace desires. There will also be an Archery Range - we are expecting many of our neighbors from An Tir, and their archers are excellent - so come and exchange knowledge!

DINING INFORMATION

Friday night we will have a complimentary Welcoming Kitchen, with complimentary fare throughout the weekend. On Saturday morning we will have a hot breakfast of eggs, sausages, hot cereal, muffins and drinks available for $2-$3. Luncheon sideboard of hot soups, breads and cheeses (complimentary of course), and the availability of a humble sideboard offering Saturday evening - OR, rather than leave the site, you may purchase a fine roast beouf dinner (as long as it lasts!) prepared by Lord Willlum, with cheesecake for dessert - all for a paltry $5. Sunday morning again will be the choice of complimentary pastries, bagels and hot drinks, or the hot breakfast plate. There will be a handout of nearby eateries at the Troll Booth.

ACCOMODATIONS

There will be indoor crash-space available for $2/person/per night, but considering the comfort of all, this will be limited - so please contact us early. Two hotels in the area are willing to give us significant discounts - Glacier Gateway Inn is about 3 miles straight south of the site at the intersection of Hwy 93 and Hwy 2 in Kalispell (toll free 1-877-755-3337). They will put 4 to a room for $46/nite, 2 people for $38, they take dogs under 40 lbs for $8 deposit, and is within 100' or less of several eateries. Cheap Sleep Motel (don't let the name fool you!) is 12 miles straight north of the site on Hwy 93 (toll free 1-800-862-3711). Their rates are 2 people for $42, and 4 people for $59. They are next door to Denny's, and also within short walking distance other eateries. REMEMBER TO SAY YOU'RE WITH THE SCA! Shire members are also generously offering up to 25 spots in their manors - most have pets, and smoking is outside. Again, please contact us early to get your preference in and your place reserved. Remember, too, that you are welcome to bring tents and pavillions if you desire. If you plan to stay in the Hall, sleeping bags and/or a simple cot is fine.
