Riber Castle is at the center of a dispute between developers who want to build housing around the historic building and conservationists and historians who want to preserve the site.

A final decision is expected in January.

You might wish to note, anent your reference to Riber, that this is a Victorian folly-catsle, not anything in period. Accordingly it's loss will simply deprive the people of the area of something built by a plutocrat to exhibit his wealth, in the true spirit of English "Oppressing the Common Man" -- the sort of behaviour against which, I believe, the American Commonwealth was formed.
