DNA Test of Jamestown Skeleton Inconclusive

DNA tests conducted on a 400-year-old Jamestown, VA skeleton have failed to prove that the remains are those of Jamestown founder Bartholomew Gosnold.

The remains were tested against those of a woman believed to have been the founder's sister. With results showing that the two were not related, researchers now believe that the woman was not related but that the skeleton is, in fact, Gosnold.

"Was I disappointed? Of course," said Bill Kelso, the association's director of archaeology at Jamestown. "A lot of work went into this."
