If the proposed regulations pass, the weapon/tool may become legal as early as January 2006. The atlatl is a "small wooden device used to propel a six-foot dart as fast as 80 MPH [129 km/hr]."

The State Game Commission of Pennsylvania is drafting regulations to allow hunters to use atlatls, wooden spear throwers first utilized by early man.
