A Time for Tudor

Have you ever wanted to wear late period garb? Is your fancy court garb collecting dust in your closet? Now you have a chance to make new late period garb or get that court garb out of the closet. Bring your best Tudor court garb and join the Barony of Eskalya as we celebrate a day in the court of King Henry VIII Tudor and Queen Anne Boleyn.

Location: United Methodist Church, 725 W 9th Ave, Anchorage, Alaska 99501

Date: November 12, 2005
Time: Site opens at noon and we must be off site by 9pm.
Site Fee: $8.00 per adult (13 and up) and $3.00 per child (5-12 years old).
There is a $3 surcharge for non-members. You must bring proof of membership or you will be charged the non-member surcharge.

The site is DRY. We also ask that you do not bring any red or dark colored liquid refreshments. The site is a carpeted gym and we will be charged for any stains on the carpet. If you have littles or babes in arms please be sure to have a sippy cup for them. We are limited to using tacky puddy to put up banners on the walls. Those of you that have stands to display your banners please bring them.

The event will include a Royal Ball after feast. There will be dance classes taught all day for those that wish to learn the dances for the ball. There will be 8 dances to choose from for your enjoyment. The Royal Ball will be from 6-8pm.

Contests and events throughout the day:

  • Bardic contest for performing one of Henry the VIII songs (voice or instrument)
  • Best Tudor Garb (Lord & Lady)
  • Best Men's Cod Piece
  • Best Ladies Hair Piece
  • Hand Kissing Contest
  • Chess and Games Tournaments
  • Classes on courtly graces

Feast will be served strictly at 5-6pm (so we can get the Royal Ball completed on time) and will be potluck by the first letter of your modern last name:

  • A-G meat dishes;
  • H-N starches and breads;
  • O-U vegetables, fruits, and cheeses
  • V-Z - desserts

There will be a Tudor dessert contest with documentation. Desserts will be judged before the feast so they may be enjoyed by all at the feast.

There will be crash space available for those of you that will be traveling to Anchorage. Please email the autocrat for crash space arrangements.

Directions:
From the North: take the Glenn Hwy to Gamble (Seward Hwy) and take a left, get into the far right lane, take a right on 9th Ave. The United Methodist Church is on the right side of the road between G & H streets. From the South: take the best route to Seward Hwy North. Take a left on 9th Ave. United Methodist Church is on the right side of the road between G & H streets. Parking and entrance to the site is at the back of the church.
