Atlantian Crown Tournament

Let the Heralds cry throughout the land inviting all to celebrate the splendor and the majesty of all that is Atlantia!

Janos and Rachel, King and Queen of the fairest of all Realms, have issued a Royal Proclamation that a Grand Tournament shall be held at the close of the first week in November to determine who shall become Atlantia's Heirs. The Canton of Misty Marsh by the Sea is proud to host the noble citizens of Atlantia in a 14th Century-styled setting to witness this stately tradition which ensures the continuity of the Kingdom.

By Royal Decree, the Tournament shall be double elimination. The Finals determined by the best two out of three.

Activities abound for all the populace to enjoy. Competitions include the traditional Roll of Arms Competition, Arts & Sciences, Tempore Atlantia 1250-1492: Best in Show, Best Documentation, Best Scroll Depicting the Arts of War, Best Scroll Depicting the Arts of Peace, Best Tournament Related Item (any medium); and Best Heraldic Field Presence.

The List shall set the stage for the Grand Tournament by boasting a grand display of heraldry. Space immediately on the List can be reserved (contact Reservationist). Preference shall be given to Tourney participants and Baronies. Please indicate for whom the space is being reserved, and period pavilion dimensions. Heraldic display is strongly encouraged, as there will be a competition for Best Heraldic Field Presence sponsored by Their Excellencies Hidden Mountain.

Merchants are welcome, but are asked to notify the Reservationist in advance.

Accommodations: Abundant tent camping space is available. Tenting is strongly encouraged. Limited cabin space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Those wishing to reserve an entire cabin should send reservations together. Please specify type of accommodations requested in your reservation (include dimensions if period pavilion). Hotels are available in nearby Bennettsville and Cheraw.

Event Fees per person: Site: $10; Feast: $6; Camping: $5 Tent/$8 Cabin. Children 0-4 yrs (guests of the Canton); Children 5-10 yrs are half price site and camping fees only. Non-members, please add $3 to the Site Fee. Please make checks payable to the Canton of Misty Marsh/SCA, Inc.

The Site is the beautiful and verdant Camp Sandy Ridge (Girl Scouts of America) 3681 Girl Scout Road, Bennettsville, S.C.

Site Restrictions: The site is DRY. Smoking is prohibited except in designated areas. Fires in approved fire circles only. The Site opens at 5pm Friday, November 4th and closes at 12:00 noon on Sunday, November 6th.

Directions: From I - 95, points South / East: Take Exit 193 (Hwy 9) towards Bennettsville. In Bennettsville {22.8 miles from I-95}, Hwy 9 "bypass" will turn LEFT for 2 miles, then turn RIGHT for 2 miles, then turn LEFT at the Huddle House {27.0 miles from I-95} , staying on Hwy 9 towards Cheraw. Turn RIGHT on Ebenezer Road {32.5 miles from I-95}, where there will be a water tower on your left and a church on your right. Camp Sandy Ridge is 3.3 miles on your RIGHT.

From 1-95, points North: In North Carolina, take exit 14 (Hwy 74) west towards Laurinburg. Approx. 26 miles from I-95 (just before 74 bypass rejoins 74 business), take Hwy 79 south/west until you reach Hwy 9 just outside Bennettsville, SC {approx. 17 miles} . Turn RIGHT on Hwy 9, then turn RIGHT again at the water tower onto Ebenezer Road. Camp Sandy Ridge is 3.3 miles on the RIGHT.

From I-20: Take Exit 116 (Hwy 15) North through Hartsville, to Society Hill {36 miles}. In Society Hill, follow Hwy 401 towards Bennettsville (NOT Hwy 52, which bears left). Turn LEFT on Hwy 912 {7 miles north of Society Hill}. The turn will be immediately before the crest of a small hill where a small gray building stands. Continue 8 miles until you reach Hwy 9. Turn LEFT on Hwy 9 and RIGHT on Ebenezer Road, with the water tower on your left and the church on your right. Camp Sandy Ridge is 3.3 miles on your RIGHT.

From Charlotte, and points West / Northwest: Take Hwy 74 East to Wadesboro, NC. Turn RIGHT on Hwy 52 South to Cheraw, SC. Turn LEFT on Hwy 9 East towards Bennettsville. Turn LEFT on Ebenezer Road {approx. 9 miles} at the water tower. SCA signs will be posted. Please observe posted speed limits along secondary roads.
