Her Excellency writes:
Greetings good gentles,
I am pleased to be able to report that the Half-Circle Theatre at Canterbury Faire is now fully established, with plans for a roomier groundlings area, a period booth stage, lighting, decorations and competent front-of-house management. We've already planted lavenders to sweeten the air (assuming they survive today's snowstorm), repaired parts of the seating for the comfort of our ticket-holders, and developed a Royal Box.
For those interested in offering entertainments, now would be an excellent time to start selecting your piece, rehearsing if need be and making your travel plans -- Canterbury Faire will be running 2-7 February in the fair Barony of Southron Gaard (Christchurch, New Zealand). Details of the Faire will be available soon, but preliminary general information and helpful advice for travellers from far field can be found here: http://sg.sca.org.nz/cf.htm
The CF timetable is in the process of being developed, but it appears likely that the theater will run on the evening of Friday February 3. We're hoping to be able to time it thus so it does not run into or over any other major activity (and I have heard intimations that there might be a quest in the dark to follow, so keep your fingers crossed...).
I will be coordinating the Half-Circle Theatre programme, and will be delighted to hear from any and all who would like to sing, orate, emote or otherwise entertain the assembled populace. You can see the type of thing we did with last year's inaugural production on the website.
Let me know if we will be seeing you on the stage, otherwise we look forward to seeing you in the audience,
