Icelandic Manuscript Project

The National and University Library of Iceland has teamed with Cornell University to digitize over 300,000 pages of manuscripts dealing with Icelandic family sagas, ballads and tales. SagaNet, a cooperative project between Cornell University and the National and University Library of Iceland, will contain a staggering amount of information on Germanic and Nordic mythology, history and contemporary European tales from the age of chivalry. All documents were printed before 1900 and most are on vellum. The digitized images will be available on the Internet, many for the first time.
