Researcher Xie Xiaodong is trying to prove that ancient Romans made it to Northwest China's Gansu Province by comparing DNA evidence to establish a genetic link.

Yongchang County in northwest China has long been the focus of stories about Roman soldiers who were captured by the Chinese and assimlated into village life. The legend is borne out by villagers who still have blond hair and blue eyes.
