Eat Like a Roman

Visitors to the archaeological site at Pompeii can get a firsthand idea of the Roman diet by purchasing kits containing ingredients commonly found on Roman tables.

Researchers working at the site have replanted many of the fruits and vegetables that were staples of the Roman citizens' diet including figs, poppies, broom, mallow, grapes and olives. Visitors can buy kits that include recipes and instructions for cooking like a Roman.
