Synagogue Mosaics to be Exhibited

The Brooklyn Museum will present an exhibition of 21 Roman mosaics from an ancient synagogue when it hosts Tree of Paradise: Jewish Mosaics from the Roman Empire.

The exhibit, which runs September 9-November 20, 2005, will also include related items such as textiles, jewelry and bronze ritual objects. The mosaics are believed to have been part of the sanctuary floor of a synagogue in Tunisia and depict the Creation and Paradise.
