The graves were found near the city of Santarem, site of the medieval Muslim capitol on the Iberian Peninsula, and are believed to date somewhere between the 8th and 12th centuries.

35 skeletons, discovered recently near Lisbon Portugal, are believed to be from one of the largest medieval Muslim burial grounds in Europe.
