"Beautifully Preserved" Bathhouse Discovered in Colchester

The remains of a "beautifully preserved" room dating to Roman times have been discovered beneath the Sixth Form College in Colchester, England.

The room, part of a bathhouse belong to a private home, measures 24x16 feet (7.3 x 4.9 metres) and was probably used for social occasions. The feature that most excites archaeologists is a wooden water main which provided water for a fountain or a tap.
