Castle Restoration: Ideal SCA Summer Vacation

La Sabranenque restoration projects in France and Italy allow volunteers to help with the preservation of period rural architecture in southern France. Looking for unique vacation opportunities? Take a look at La Sabranenque. This small, non-profit organization, created in 1969, strives to use volunteer labor to restore and preserve abandoned historic sites using traditional building techniques. The organization has restored an entire medieval village near Avignon and is now working with preservation groups in France and Italy to preserve other sites.

Although traditional techniques are used, volunteering requires no previous experience. All volunteers are trained on the job and each participant is integrated into a small project team. The cost for two weeks is up to $580 including housing, full board, all activities. Costs do not include travel to the project site.
