Passports to be Required for U.S. Citizens to Re-enter Country

By 2008, citizens of the United States will be required to have a passport to re-enter the United States from Canada and Mexico.

The new rules are designed to improve security. Currently, citizens of the U.S. may use a driver's license or birth certificate, but do not need to show a passport.
