New Scientific Methods Used to Study Medieval Diet

"Fast or feast: reconstructing diet in later medieval England by stable isotope analysis," an article by Michael P. Richardsa, appears in a recent issue of the Journal of Archaeological Science.

The scholarly article looks at the "results of stable isotope analysis of carbon and nitrogen of human and animal bone collagen from three later medieval sites in Northern England," and comes to conclusions about the diet of the medieval inhabitants of the sites. The article is in PDF format.
