The ship was discovered in 2002 during excavation for a riverfront arts center. Since that time, a desperate effort has been waged to keep authorities from reburying the rotting timbers.
Newport Ship in Trouble Again

Plans to continue the preservation of a medieval ship owned by the Earl of Warwick have hit another snag. Newport Council members need to raise UK£300,000 a year to keep the ship from being destroyed.
