Camp Impessa Scout Camp (The site is within 20 minutes of Cambridge and south Kitchener.) 827559 8th Concession Road, Ayr, Ontario
Friday May 20, 2005 to Monday May 23, 2005
Site opens at 6 pm on Friday and closes noon Sharp Monday
SITE IS DRY - No exceptions. The ranger lives on site and we will be patrolling. Anyone caught drinking will be asked to leave.
Activities will include Armored Combat, Rapier Combat, Archery, A&S classes, Competitions and a Bardic Circle as well as genial company. Their Majesties will be holding a Kingdom Moot.
There will be a tavern available for Breakfast and Supper on Saturday and Sunday, as well as Breakfast on Monday in the main lodge. Details to follow. The plan is to make it a pay as you eat plan (no pre-registration like last year) However, for this to work we need to know how many people are interested in this kind of a food plan so we can work out costing. You can contact me with any questions and/or input. Coffee and tea will be available all day for a contribution to help defray costs.
For those wishing to tent camp there are 2 BBQ's available for campers use but you need to supply your own propane and clean up after your use. BBQ's are located just outside the lodges and picnic tables will be set up for your use. Because the camp area is a large grassy field which is used as a playing field no firepits are allowed to be dug. However, there are two firepits just off the main field and you are able to camp around these. Be aware that these are in the trees and may affect how you set up larger tents. We are allowed to use all the dead fall we can gather for the firepits. Please axes and saws only and do not touch living trees. No driving is allowed on the playing field and we have the use of four carts to carry goods into the camp area. A team of strong hands will be available to help.
There are indoor sleeping facilities as well. The main lodge has 6 private rooms on the lower level with two bunk beds in each room. Also the loft on the upper level accomodates approx 8 people (sleeping matresses supplied). The lodge is heated and has showers and flush toilets. It boasts a kitchen/dining area where the tavern will be set up and a comfortable lounge area for social gathering as well as a large outdoor deck. A children's play area will be set up on the lower level should the weather gods be frowning on us. The secondary lodge can accomodate 12 people in the upper loft but you would need to bring your own bedding/matresses. This lodge is also heated and has a small kitchenette and a flush toilet. Any questions regarding these facilities or to reserve your place, please contact me.
The A&S room will be in the lower level of the secondary lodge. The room is equipped with a blackboard and easel available for the teachers to use. For more information about A&S classes or to sign up to teach please contact Lady Odette at: firstname.lastname@example.org Include "A&S at Ragnarok" in the title please.
There is an amphitheatre where we plan to hold the bardic circle on Saturday night, weather permitting. And if the weather favors us we will be holding court and the moot in the outdoor chapel. There is also a large picnic shelter that has electricity and lights and we plan to do a number of late night tournies, both heavy and rapier. An archery field will be set up as well (dependant on marshal availability).
