Macclesfield Psalter to Remain in England

A last-minute effort to save importation of the 14th century Macclesfield Psalter has been successful. The manuscript will be retained by the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.

The book was purchased in June by the Getty Museum in Los Angeles for US$3.2 million, but the sale was blocked by the British government until February in order to give fund-raisers a chance to raise the money to keep the psalter in England.
