Archaeologists Seek Tombs of Bulgarian Khans

Excavations are being carried out around the site of the ancient Bulgarian city of Pliska in hopes of finding the mausoleum containing the remains of the country's rulers.

Archaeologists believe that they are near to discovery of the burial sites of the Khans Krum and Omurtag and their successors. The oldest part of the city is believed to date to the late 7th century.
