Archaeology: Archaeologists working in Imari Bay have discovered remnants of a ship or ships which may well be part of Kublai Khan's invasion force from 1281. The kamikaze, or "divine wind," is said to have destroyed Kublai Khan's fleet when he tried to invade Japan in 1281. Now archaeologists may have found proof in the murky waters of Imari Bay. A dive to the ocean floor led to the discovery of artifacts including clusters of timbers, leather armor fragments, pottery and an intact Mongol helmet.

The amazing find is documented in the January issue of Archaeology Magazine, complete with photos of some of the artifacts. A remnant of the Mongol fleet? Could be. An historic discovery? Certainly.
