Break the Back of Winter

Hark and come all for a day of warm celebrations in the Beauteous Canton of Greyfells!!! Break The Back of Winter will take place on the 12th of February, in the town of Kingston, at the picturesque Queen's University.

Sadly, there will be no martial activities at this event, but arrangements are being made to have a large fight practice the day after.

A day of activities to break the hold of Winter!! Come enjoy a festival of A&S activities and competition, a Hearty Feast and an eve of Bardic pleasure. This much Warmth of friends and fun will surely Break the Back of Winter. Also see our website at http://ealdormere.sca.org/greyfells/btbow.html.

Come all and Celebrate the Elevation of the most Noble Dame Sarra Graeham of Birnham to the honourable Order of the Pelican — surely an event to be celebrated and remembered!

Activities:

  1. A "Try Something new" A&S competition!! Come try your hand at any of the various small classes that will be taking place at the event, subjects include, embroidery, weaving, calligraphy , illumination, sewing and more! Pick your favorite three projects (created that day) and enter them, the competition is open to all! there will be two categories, beginners and advanced. Submissions will be judged on quality, completeness and creativity. Prizes to the top admissions in each category! Try something new and have some fun! Teachers still needed for subjects that fit this theme if this is you please contact me!! (Contact info at bottom)
  2. Lunch table to be presented by the talented Lady Jeanne of Greyfells. A hearty lunch for a meager cost.
  3. Various Games and activities for all ages located around the event. (ie: historical books, games etc etc)
  4. An area will be arranged for Children's Activities! Volunteers still needed to help tend this area. Parents are expected to be responsable for their children, this is intended as an activity center and not a babysitting service, Come let the little ones have fun with crafts,games and other fun activities!
  5. Bardic Circle to take place after feast! Come enjoy an evening of merrimetn to close the day. All performers welcome!!! Please contact me!! or come and be spontaneous any talent is appreciated!

Feast!
The wonderful Lord Robert Peregrine will be preparing a feast of two removes to follow a winter theme! Vegetarian dishes are available. For a copy of the feast menu, or to make a reservation please contact the Event Stewart. (Contact info at bottom of page!) . When you reserve please make any allergies or sensitivities known so that accommodations may be made as we are able!

Cost:
Site: Adults 5$ , Children 2.50$ Babes in Arms free ( a 4$ non member surcharge will apply)
Feast: 10$ (Half price for servers!)

Directions:
From East or West: Take the 401 to the Division St Exit in Kingston (Exit 617)

Follow Division St all the way down to Union St (it is a long way, it ends at Union St.) Turn right on Union follow it to University St. The event is on the corner of University and Union. Parking can be found by parking on the side of the road or driving further down Union where there are parking lots on your right. Signs will be posted at both the event site and the Parking area.
