Two young men with metal detectors have discovered a Bronze Age treasure dating
back 3,000 years near Rossett, in Wrexham, Wales.
According to the BBC, Pete Williams and Mike Sheen have discovered a cache of
gold and bronze dating from between 1,000 and 800 BCE. The men, who belong to
the Wrexham Metaldectorists Club, found the treasure while using their metal
detectors. They are entitled to monetary compensation for the find, and would
like to see the artifacts remain in Wrexham.
Archaeologists believe the find is an important one. A dagger found at the site is the first of its kind to be discovered in Wales. The investigation is ongoing. |
