Prince Charles Offers Plants to 'Elizabethan' Garden

Prince Charles has offered some plants from his Highgrove estate for a proposed Elizabethan garden at a cottage in Cornwall, said to be the family home of Sir Francis Drake's first wife.
The planned garden at the 15th-century cottage in Saltash, reputed to have been the family home of Mary Newman (who married Drake in 1569), would feature original Elizabethan medicinal and culinary herbs. The building has been fully restored to its 15th century appearance with furniture from the period supplied by the Victoria and Albert Museum. |
