Haaretz: Acre Burial Site Proves to be Roman

A burial site near Acre, once believed to have been a Jewish cemetery, has turned out to be Roman.

Ultra-orthodox Jews were concerned that the remains discovered at the site might be mishandled, but were relieved to learn that the cemetery was Roman. Among the finds was the tomb of Legionnaire Olfius Martinos, of the Seventh Claudian Legion, marked by a marble monument.
