Location: St. Mary's Episcopal Church
Top of the hill on the corner of Lake Otis and Tudor, Anchorage, Alaska
Eskalya welcomes all to share in celebrating Christmas in New Spain at the end of the 16th century. Christmas celebrated with Old World traditions and the abundance of the New World. We are not recreating but celebrating the sense of community of these explorers, conquistadors, soldiers, Company colonists, servants and others. Games, contests, dancing, fighting both heavy and rapier, entertainments most wonderful, onsite activities, surprises, and fun for all. Our feast will be traditional with a New World flavour.
Our 'tourney' will be Moors and Christians, a way used to celebrate the victory of the Christians over the Moors. For this there is a costume contest for the BEST DRESSED COMBATANT in the event theme. The plan is for each heavy fighter to be both a Christian and a Moor.
For rapier there is also Mistress Margaret Anne fighting for her prize. There will also be a costume contest for BEST DRESSED RAPIER in the event theme.
