"Stupid English Prejudice" Colors View of Scotland

British TV historian David Starkey is being accused of "stupid English prejudice" after he claimed that Scotland was not as important as England.

Starkey claims that Scotland merely basks in England's reflected glory saying, "I love Scotland, but it is not an important country. Your own political elite don’t want independence because they love swanning around as Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer."

Tempers are hot, although Scottish historian Neal Ascherson dismissed the charges as "a basket of cheerfully stupid English prejudice."
