Archaeologists have long known of the existence of the eighth pillar from the ruins of the cathedral, but they knew that it was buried beneath a row of Georgian houses. Now, thanks to restoration work being done on the houses, the last column, or pier, has been exposed.

A pillar from the Benedictine Priority Cathedral, which was destroyed during the reign of Henry VIII, has been unearthed in Coventry, England.
