The "Whipping Winds" event was aptly named, for the prairies were indeed whipped by the winds during the day, although the weather calmed in the evening. Neither the winds, nor the fact that two parked trains blocked the entrances to the fairgrounds for part of the day, kept the attendees from having a great time.
The article in The Shelby Promoter has a few inaccuracies, such as stating that the SCA started in 1968, but overall is favorable toward the organization.
