Structural survey of Barnard's Castle "challenging"

Four years ago, the walls of 12th century Barnard Castle's came tumbling down, but no one has accepted the responsibility for their collapse. Now, with the help of a UKĀ£50,000 grant, a structural survey of the Durham, England site has been scheduled.

The survey will be undertaken by the Durham County Council, English Heritage and Raby Estates, who also funded it, and is expected to be "complex and challenging." The castle was built in the 12th century by Bernard de Balliol.
