Old Masters Week to feature sale of the Rothschild Prayerbook

Representatives from Christie's auction house in New York have announced that the centerpiece of its January 2014 Old Masters Week auctions will be The Rothschild Prayerbook, considered to be "the finest illuminated manuscript in private hands." The 16th century Book of Hours on vellum sold for US$13,378,558 in 1999, a world record for its category. It is expected to bring  US$12,000,000-$18,000,000 when it is sold on January 29, 2014. Artdaily.org features the manuscript in a recent article.
