Roman Floors Re-Discovered

Two rare 4th century Roman floors, unearthed in 1880 and reburied by workmen, have been re-discovered on the Isle of Wight.

Archaeologists working on the Brading Villa on England's Isle of Wight were delighted to discover the two 4th century mosaic floors. The floors were originally discovered in the 1880s but were reburied to protect them from the elements. Now project managers are faced with the prospect of finding funding to uncover and restore the floors, which are of a type extremely rare in England.
