Visitors to Zurich, Switzerland may want to visit a new exhibit at the Swiss National Museum entitled Charlemagne and Switzerland, opening September 2013. Art Daily has a review.
The exhibition spans the period from the rule of Charlemagne from 771–814 to the end of the Carolingian dynasty in the late 9th century, and includes exhibitions on coinage reform as well as early artwork loaned from the library at the Abbey of St. Gall. Over 200 artifacts will be displayed including a gold-gilt silver breast cross, rare Carolingian silks, manuscripts, ivory and goldsmithing work.
The exhibit ends in February 2014.
