Monica Bretherton writes the Horsebytes blog at the Seattle PI. She recently visited an SCA equestrian event in the Kingdom of An Tir, where she learned about medieval re-enactment on horseback. (photos)
Bretherton knows equestrian issues and looked at the SCA activities with a practiced eye. She writes, "The advantage of an event like this is that it is not a spectacle or performance, like the jousting at a medieval fair. While it is certainly a competition, complete with judges, it is played out for the participants rather than paying spectators, and taking some time when the horse needs it is perfectly okay."
The article includes a number of nice photos from the event.
