During the reconstruction of Lincoln Castle in England, archaeologists discovered an elaborate, stone sarcophagus believed to date from the 10th century. Now plans are being made to open the tomb and discover who might lie inside.
"We are all excited about lifting the lid and seeing who is in there and what is buried with him,” said program manager Mary Powell. So far, an endoscopy has revealed a body and some grave goods, possibly gold. "We think it's somebody terribly important - possibly a bishop or a Saxon king," Powell added.
