Coded Tudor Letter Translated into English

Times Online: The Times of London reports that a coded letter written in French to Queen Elizabeth I has been translated into English for the first time. The National Maritime Museum in Greenwich will host a display next year that will include a four-page letter from Jean de Simier to Queen Elizabeth I dealing with her proposed marriage to Francis, Duke of Alancon. The letter, written in coded French, has been translated into English for the first time and reveals a great deal of intimacy between Simier and the Queen, who nicknamed him her "Monkey."
