Muslim Necropolis Discovered in Lisbon

Archaeologists working on a large site south of Lisbon, Portugal, believe it to be the largest Muslim cemetery on the Iberian peninsula.

Over 35 skeletons, which were buried according to Islamic tradition and facing Mecca, have been found. Experts expect to find many more. "It still remains for us to find the mosque, but we already have some idea where it is," said Antonio Matias, the archaeologist in charge of the site.
