In a new exhibit, the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) in London will showcase the work of early Islamic physicians. The mirror of health: discovering medicine in the golden age of Islam will be on display at the college's museum from 1 May to 25 October 2013.
"The Islamic medics not only transmitted and translated medical thought and practice from ancient Greece, but also innovated and changed the science. This enabled medicine to evolve over the centuries into the truly sophisticated science we know today," said curator Professor Peter E Pormann from The University of Manchester. Prominently displayed will be the writing of Galen, incorporated by the Arabs, as well as 13th century artifacts from the museum's collection.
