Another Knightly Skeleton Found in Car Park

The grave of a medieval warrior has been unearthed under a Scottish car park.   The site was originally that of a 13th-century monastery.

The grave was covered by a slab of sandstone which had carvings of a cross and sword.  The skeleton will be analyzed for information as to age, health and diet of the warrior.

According to the Scotsman website, "The knight’s remains have also revealed the exact location of Blackfriars Monastery, which was founded in 1230 by Alexander II – king of Scotland from 1214 to 1249 – before it was destroyed during the Reformation."
