Finest Roman Cockerel

An enameled bronze Roman cockeral has been restored after being found in a child's grave.

The object may date back as far as AD 100 and is presumed to have been made in what is now West Yorkshire.  The restoration took four months and is one of only eight similar figurines found in Britain.  It was an extremely expensive item in its day to put into the grave of a toddler. (photos)
