[EAS] Swabian Peasants Festspiele

This spring the peasants of Swabia will dig their way out of their snowbound hovels to celebrate the planting season in true German peasant fashion.

It will be a day of games, stories, contests of peasant-ly skill, and turnips.  Wear your finest burlap to this revel!  Fighting, music, and lots of turnips will certainly figure prominently.

Games and contests are planned throughout the day.  The site offers both plenty of indoor space, and large lawns for outdoor games if the weather is fair.  Races will include the Bavarian plate race, where runners have to balance a plate of beets on their head and not drop any.  Marbles, bowling, and gambling games offer less exhausting pursuits.  Children and families will be included with games for all ages, and entertainments particularly for children.

For heavy list fighters, there will be melees including town and bridge battles based on accounts of Italian "battles" very similar to our heavy list.

Gentles are encouraged to bring lunch to eat with friends, outside if the weather is good or in the atmospheric hall if necessary.  There will not be a dayboard.  In the evening, a celebratory peasant dinner will be cooked by Lady Richenza of Bridge.  It will include hearty peasant fare, with multiple vegetarian dishes and meat for those who wish.  Those with dietary concerns should contact the autocrat for more information.

The event will allow merchants.  Space is limited, so merchants must advise the autocrat by April 1st if they wish to vend at this event.
