A stash of "street toys", dated from 1570-1630, was unearthed in an old stairwell of the Market Harborough parish church, England.
More than 200 toys were revealed when the stairwell was unblocked. They included tipcats, spinning tops, whistles, knucklebones, balls, whip handles, and teetotums. (photos) Many of these can be found in paintings by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. "Interestingly, the church where the toys were found is located right next to a Grammar School which was in existence at the time the toys would have been used."
