Grave of Russian warrior yields weapons and treasure

Excavations of a grave in the Caucasus mountains in Russia have revealed a man buried with gold, armor, and weapons. The burial dates to between 400 BCE and 200 CE.

Animals were found buried nearby, futher indicating this was a warrior of high status.

Finds include gold jewelery, chain mail, two helmets, pottery, a sword, and an axe.  Researchers do not know the ethnicity of the warrior, but the artifacts show strong Greek influences. [photos]
